Immunotests

ELISA – Renibacterium salmoninarum

The Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) uses antibodies to detect Renibacterium salmoninarum antigen in fish tissue.

Application: this information can be used to detect and monitor for the presence of Renibacterium salmoninarum (the causal agent of bacterial kidney disease - BKD) in hatchery and wild salmon.

ELISA – Cortisol

The ELISA uses antibodies to detect and quantify cortisol antigen levels in samples.  Cortisol is a corticosteroid hormone involved in the response to stress.

Application: Information about fish stress at the time of sampling can be inferred from measuring cortisol levels.
